Jay Rosenthal is the founder and principal of JMR Strategic.
In 2005, Jay was named one of “40 Under 40 People to Watch” in Silicon Valley by the Silicon Valley/San Jose Business Journal. While he no longer fits the “under 40” category – many, including his mother, wife, and two kids, believe he is still watch-worthy.
Jay moved from the Bay Area to Toronto in 2012 after he spent more than 15 years in San Francisco. During those years, Jay launched, grew and managed a boutique public affairs consulting firm – JMR Strategic – which is still serving clients in the Bay Area and throughout California. His company provides and provided unique insight and strategic guidance to corporate, political and non-profit clients such as Pacific Gas & Electric Company, Sam Liccardo for San Jose City Council, and the California Apartment Association. Prior to that, Jay served as the Vice President for Public Policy at the San Jose Silicon Valley Chamber of Commerce. During these years, Jay was also the chief architect of the Chamber’s public policy and political efforts and served as the organization’s spokesperson.
Since early 2013, Jay has also served as a Director of Projects at Public Inc., a Toronto-based social purpose marketing agency and innovation lab that integrates profit and purpose to create progressive public engagement campaigns. At Public Inc., Jay has focused on creating and implementing innovative and engaging public health interventions - including two workplace health initiatives that have both received multi-year, multi-million dollar funding from the Public Health Agency of Canada.
Jay has extensive experience in government on both the federal and local level having served for two years with San Jose Mayor Ron Gonzales and three years for U.S. Senator Barbara Boxer.
Born and raised in Natick, Massachusetts, Jay is a graduate of Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia and Hebrew University in Jerusalem. Jay is married to Dara Solomon, the Executive Director of the Ontario Jewish Archives and they have two (very active) children – Stella and Cy.
